Hi, everyone! My name is Marisa Conners, and I am an ambitious fashionista, designer, entrepreneur, techie, blogger, speaker, and advocate. I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. I currently live between Cincinnati and South Florida. I have Cerebral Palsy and I cannot speak. But not speaking does not mean I have nothing to say. I use my iPad to communicate and express myself. I am also hard of hearing. I understand everything. My disability never defines who I am, but it is just a part of my story. 

I am pleased and proud to introduce my own blog, "Marisa's Blog: Living with Cerebral Palsy”. This blog focuses on my life with cerebral palsy and my journey to success. It also includes topics related to fashion, business, graphic design/art, digital technology, lifestyle, travel, and disability (these are my particular interests). On this blog, I aim to educate readers about how disabled people navigate a fulfilling, meaningful, and successful life and career, just like everyone else. As I share my own blog and social media with you, I am dedicated to inspiring others to pursue their dreams and aspirations even if they have similar challenges like me.

I was born prematurely on September 12, 1996. That day, as being 32 weeks pregnant,  my mama underwent an emergency c-section because she had miserable pains in her bump after admitting to the hospital two days before. Let’s read my new weekly diary of February 14-20 2025. ! This diary took place in Naples, Florida which is my Florida residence and Tampa, Florida.  Friday, February 14th - Valentine's Day - I get up close to 7:30am and got dressed. I wore a Tommy Hilfiger blush pink 3/4 sleeves sweater with a small heart on the top right of the sweater, blush pink casual capri pants, and matching bead dangle heart earrings. I placed an order from Einstein Bagels via DoorDash so I got avocado toast on Asiago cheese bagel for breakfast. I opened my Valentine's Day cards from my mom and my aunt with lottery tickets, I won $5 lottery scratch tickets. I skipped lunch because I was having a big dinner. My Story: Living with Cerebral Palsy, Part II: School Years

If you missed reading my story about birth and early childhood, you should read " My Story: Living with Cerebral Palsy, Part I: Birth and Early Childhood ". I am sharing the second part of my story with all of you. The second part of my story addresses how I navigated my school years with cerebral palsy. I attended the Perlman Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for preschool. The Perlman Center provides children with cerebral palsy and other physical conditions that can help them live full life. They also support adults with cerebral palsy and other physical conditions. They have great programs such as preschool education, assistive technology, and supportive therapy. I loved the preschool program. I enjoyed spending time with my classmates. I learned to read at age 3 and spell at age 5. I encountered an elderly pediatrician and volunteer, Dr. Peerless during my preschool years. He would walk in and sit with me each and every time. Navigating My Daily Life with Cerebral Palsy As An Adult

I am an adult and I am navigating my daily life with cerebral palsy. As you may have known my life story, I cannot speak or walk on my own because of my cerebral palsy. (If you missed my life story, you should read “ My Story: Living With Cerebral Palsy, Part I: Birth and Childhood ” blog post) Also, I cannot feed myself, dress myself, and drive whereas I can walk with assistance, stand independently, and transfer to any seating positions. I use my iPad to talk to you every day. I occasionally use an alphabetical chart to communicate. I also use a wheelchair. I use leg braces that enable me to move and coordinate my legs actively.  Those supports are always necessary to help me live a healthy and active life and maintain my independence.  I am very independent but I require 24/7 care that meets my personal and compassionate needs. Let’s read my new weekly diary of March 14 - 20, 2025!  This diary took place in Naples, Florida which is my Florida residence and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.   Friday, March 14 - it was my second full day at Hard Rock Casino Resort. I woke up at 9:30am as I set the alarm time. I went to pool for at least 4 hours with my mom and my caregiving girlfriend, Danielle. At the pool, we enjoyed relaxing together. I got to be in the water by sitting in a pool twice so I exercised well in the water. We had a grilled cheese meal for lunch. We left the pool to go back to our hotel room at 3pm.
